Mindfulness is defined as “a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations…” Mindfulness has many helpful benefits that include improved sleep; decreased stress, anxiety, and depression; increased focus; increase in effective emotional regulation and reduced rumination; improved working memory and cognitive flexibility. These are all benefits that can help someone move forward with their mental health and wellness goals.
Mindfulness can be practiced and incorporated in many different ways and can be done with only a few moments of your time. Learn how mindfulness can be beneficial for you! It can be an at-home practice and added into your therapy sessions.
