Welcome!  I’m Jess Hadford-Crook, a licensed professional counselor specializing in teen and adult therapy.  I am the owner and primary clinician at High Alpine Counseling.  My background includes a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Exercise and Sport Science from Western Colorado University and a Master of Arts degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Lewis Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling.  I have worked in the private practice field since 2016 as well as 4 years experience working in an acute eating disorder treatment facility.  I also have extensive background in working with trauma survivors.  My areas of expertise include trauma, anxiety (general and performance), grief, life-transitions, relational issues, women’s issues, chronic pain, and other various mood disorders.

Often times people aren't sure what they are struggling with, but have a general feeling of being "stuck". I view my clients in context to their environment, and know that many issues, problematic thinking and behaviors maybe were once used as a means to cope or survive their environment.  I want to help them explore the root of their issues and help them to find effective tools in resolving them so they can thrive in the life that they want. I empower individuals to overcome personal obstacles to improve relationships and move towards personal growth and goals.

I am a person-centered therapist, believing that empathy and a strong rapport are key components to successful therapy.  I take an eclectic approach to counseling and incorporate many different modalities, including EMDR, mindfulness, somatic work, Polyvagal theory and nervous system regulation, DBT, and CBT.  The goal is to offer feedback and resources that are specific and tailored to each individual client.

When I am not working, I can be found exploring the mountains with my husband.  I enjoy running, hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and skiing.  I find nature to be soothing and grounding for one’s heart and soul.  I also strive to spend as much time with my family and friends as I possibly can.

I look forward to meeting you.  Let's connect!
